FAQ
-
Making an Appointment
To make an appointment, please contact one of our five Capital Region locations. We are conveniently located in Albany, Clifton Park, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady and Troy.
If you are making a new patient appointment, we’ll ask for some basic information including details about health insurance coverage. For existing patients returning to our Practice, we’ll confirm the information we have on file. Each of our eight physicians works in multiple office locations, to provide better access at a location convenient to you.
-
Your First Visit
New patient appointments typically take 2 – 3 hours, depending on the reason for the visit and testing required to provide a diagnosis and to develop a treatment plan. Please keep this in mind when planning your visit to our office. When you make your appointment our staff will provide the necessary pre-visit instructions to you. Your first visit will consist of a comprehensive evaluation which may include:
- Your medical, family, environmental and social history including: the current medical problem that is the reason for your visit, previous medical problems and treatments, a review of your family medical history, a discussion about your home and work environment and your use of tobacco and alcohol.
- A physical examination.
- Testing to assess lung function.
- Allergy skin testing to a variety of allergens, or drugs based upon your history and the physical examination.
- Additional diagnostic tests such as blood tests, x-rays, or a CT scan as indicated by your history and physical examination. These tests are not provided in our office. In the event such testing is necessary you will be referred to a lab or imaging center.
After your visit, your physician will review the findings and discuss with you the recommended treatment plan and follow-up visit schedule.
-
Subsequent Visits
Follow-up visits are normally scheduled at check-out time, for patients requiring a follow-up visit in 6 months or less. For patients who need to be re-evaluated more than 6 months after the previous visit, a reminder will be sent to you requesting that you schedule the appointment. This reminder will be sent to you 6 months in advance of the date your visit is due. Please call our office when you receive the reminder to ensure that an appointment will be available for you.
-
Canceling an Appointment
Please let us know 48 hours in advance if you cannot keep a scheduled appointment so that we may schedule another patient in need of care. We reserve the right to charge a $50 fee for any appointment not canceled 48 hours in advance.

Emergencies & Urgent Care
A physician is always available for allergy and asthma emergencies. During office hours, please contact us and you will be assisted by a member of our staff. If it is essential that you be seen in our office for treatment, you may be offered an appointment with a physician or our physician’s assistant. It may be necessary for you to be seen in another of our Capital Region locations to allow us to treat you on a more timely basis.
After hours we are available to assist patients of our practice through our on-call service. Our on-call service may be reached by dialing any of our local office telephone numbers. A message will be taken by our answering service and it will be dispatched to the on-call provider.
